Support the Workplace Day of Action for Palestine, Thursday 26 November 2026
The STUC is supporting the Workplace Day of Action for Palestine on Thursday 26 November, alongside the TUC and trade unions across the UK. We are encouraging trade unionists to come together in their workplaces to demonstrate solidarity with the Palestinian people and their fight for justice, freedom and peace.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza remains catastrophic. Palestinians continue to face devastating conditions, with Israeli military operations and restrictions on humanitarian aid compounding the suffering. More than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed, including journalists, healthcare workers and educators.
In the West Bank, Palestinians continue to face displacement, violence and discrimination under Israel’s illegal occupation. The expansion of settlements and continued threats of annexation undermine Palestinian rights and the prospect of a viable, independent Palestinian state.
The STUC stands in solidarity with the Palestinian people and supports their right to self-determination. Any lasting peace must be grounded in international law, respect for human rights and the meaningful participation of Palestinians in decisions about their future.
How to take part
We encourage trade union members and branches to discuss how they can mark the day of action in their own workplaces. Activities should be agreed collectively, taking account of workplace circumstances and ensuring colleagues are treated respectfully.
Show your solidarity
Organise a workplace photo with colleagues using the TUC’s downloadable placards, calling for an end to the occupation and respect for international law. You can also share a collective statement of solidarity from your union branch or workplace.
Call for ethical investment and procurement
Raise the issue of ethical investment and procurement with your employer, calling for policies that uphold human rights, workers’ rights and international law.
Organise a workplace discussion
Bring colleagues together for a lunchtime discussion or virtual lunch-and-learn to explore the situation in Palestine, the rights of Palestinian workers and the role of the international trade union movement in building solidarity.
Write to your MP
Contact your MP and ask them to support the trade union movement’s calls for the UK Government to:
Put pressure on the Israeli government to comply with international law and end its illegal occupation of Palestinian territory.
Ban trade with illegal Israeli settlements.
Suspend the UK-Israel trade agreement.
End arms trade and military collaboration with Israel in accordance with international law.
Support Palestinian-led reconstruction in Gaza, with trade unions involved in rebuilding decent work and high-quality public services.
Stand together for Palestine
Trade union solidarity does not stop at national borders. Workers everywhere have a role to play in standing up for human rights and challenging injustice.
On 26 November, we encourage trade unionists across Scotland to come together, raise awareness and take action in solidarity with Palestine.
