SIGN THE PETITION:

No more Creative Standards - Cement Fair Work in the Art of Scotland

We are calling on all political parties to put Fair Work in the creative industries at the heart of their election campaigns.

What does this mean in practice?

Following the work carried out by the STUC and Trade Unions within Scotland’s Culture Sector, the Scottish Government commissioned two Independent reports into Creative Scotland and Fair Work within Scotland’s cultural and creative industries.

These reports proposed a combined total of 52 recommendations to improve the conditions of the estimated 90,000 workers across Scotland.

None of the 52 recommendations were enacted before the Scottish Parliament session ended for the 2026 elections.

We need all political parties to pledge the immediate adaption and implementation of the recommendations as soon as possible following the election period.

STUC & ACAS - Making Rights Real

In collaboration with the STUC and its “Making Rights Real” programme of events, Acas is offering a webinar for TU colleagues on 13th May 2026, 13:00 – 14:30.

The Employment Rights Act 2025 represents one of the most significant shifts in industrial relations and collective labour law in a generation, strengthening trade union rights and reshaping how statutory recognition and workplace access operate.

Changes in April and taking effect in October 2026 lower the thresholds for statutory recognition and introduce new legal rights for unions to access workplaces — including where they are not recognised.

This webinar is designed for trade union officers and reps who want to understand these changes. It will focus on how the new recognition framework and statutory access rights support the ERA 2025 aspiration to further collective bargaining and effective employee voice.
