Iran has one of the world’s worst workers’ rights records. At present, trade unions are not recognized in Iran. The Iranian labour law currently forbids and prevents the formation of trade unions and a number of trade unionists have been imprisoned for attempting to exercise their right to freedom of assembly and association.
The STUC, alongside, the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), demand the release of all imprisoned trade unionists and all others unjustly detained in Iran.
