Climate Emergency
“That this Congress notes that the climate emergency is an existential threat to all workers and communities, driven primarily by the burning of fossil fuels.
“Congress welcomes the First International Conference for the Phase Out of Fossil Fuels, co-hosted by the governments of Colombia and the Netherlands.
“Congress believes that this international conference is a vital step towards achieving a global, equitable, and necessary phase out of fossil fuels.
“Congress notes that this conference provides a crucial opportunity to advocate for robust, just transition plans and climate finance commitments from developed nations.
“Congress calls on the General Council to agree to publicise the outcomes of the conference, and to agree to organise a meeting to consider ways that the ideas discussed can be practically followed up by affiliates.”
