Close the Gap Report: Young mothers’ rights at work
Young mothers deserve fair treatment at work.
Close the Gap have been working with Save the Children Scotland on a project exploring young mothers’ experiences of work and the barriers they face.
Working alongside young women who became mothers between the ages of 16 and 25, they’ve developed the Young Mum. Big Dreams. campaign to help young mothers understand their employment rights, recognise unfair treatment and know where to turn for support.
The campaign covers important workplace rights, including flexible working, pregnancy and maternity protections, time off for childcare emergencies, discrimination, sexual harassment and joining a trade union.
No young mother should face discrimination or be forced to choose between raising a family and building a career.
