STUC Congress 2024

Annual Congress 2024 was held between Monday 15th April and Wednesday 17th April 2024 in the Caird Hall, Dundee.

We remain in a cost-of-living crisis which represents the biggest fall in living standards since records began. We’re facing drastic cuts to public services – caused by the UK Government but reinforced by Scottish Government inaction. Our right to strike is being attacked by a tired, corrupt Tory Government that is rotten to the core. Policy makers, across the board, appear unwilling to countenance the kind of public intervention needed to ensure a just transition to net zero. We are witnessing a genocide in Gaza, which the UK Government is complicit in, as the world watches on.

Across the country, workers are standing up to be counted to protect their pay, their public services and to show solidarity to those in desperate need.

STUC Congress ensured workers’ voices are heard by those in power. As we move towards a General Election, we will continue to fight and win for our movement, building a consensus across Scotland for radical change in favour of working people.

Key motions included:

  • Raising taxes to deliver for Scotland
  • Just Transition and Green Industrial Strategy
  • New Deal for Workers and Devolution of Employment Law
  • Palestine
