Support the UCU picket at University of Dundee National Mobilisation on Monday, 5 October

UOD Students Against Cuts are calling for a national mobilisation to the picket line at Dundee University on the 5th of October.

Dundee UCU are striking for 5 weeks to protest compulsory redundancies- the latest round of cuts would bring the total number of jobs lost in the past 2 years to over 1000. Students and staff did not cause this crisis. Overpaid, incompetent management did.

Though Dundee has been at the forefront of the crisis in higher education, it is not unique to our city. Almost every university in Scotland has faced cuts and job losses in the past 2 years. This is why we are calling the mobilisation- we must show that the whole of Scotland supports the striking Dundee workers, but also, we must build student/worker solidarity across the country.

These cuts will not just affect staff. For students, university cuts mean fewer courses, fewer lectures and greatly reduced student support. Students need to get organised and fight this; we need a national campaign against the cuts.

Let’s show the bosses and the Scottish government that students do not stand for these cuts. Join us on the picket line on the 5th of October for the first national student mobilisation against higher education cuts! Bring your union flags and banners.
