Scotland Demands Better Buses - Rally at Scottish Parliament on 2 September
Why are we still waiting for better buses? Transport Secretary @StephenFlynnSNP has promised to bring us new #BetterBuses legislation “to put the needs of passengers at the very heart of Scotland’s bus networks.” Despite this he refuses to meet with passenger groups and is prioritising consulting with bus operators instead. We are calling bus passengers from across Scotland to join our Rally outside the Scottish Parliament and demand a better bus service.
We have already been waiting 7 years for change after the last Transport Act was passed. Since then prices have gone up, routes have been cut and communities have been left stranded. We have invited MSPs to come and meet us to hear passenger experiences and talk to us about how to fix our broken bus network. Ask your MSPs to come and show Stephen Flynn he needs to listen to passenger voices.
We are calling on the Scottish Parliament to get bus franchising done by simplifying the legislation and committing the funding which will allow Scotland’s largest regional transport authority, SPT, to blaze a trail the rest of Scotland can follow to fix the mess of bus deregulation once and for all.
