The STUC Black Workers’ Committee leads on campaigns and policy for black trade union members in Scotland. The committee is elected at the annual STUC Black Workers Conference (October/November).

Black History Month

In 2024, we celebrated Black History Month with a lecture on “Steadfast and Strong: Inspired by Heroes Past” with guest speakers Hardial Singh Bhari and Kam McMillan from the Scottish Asian Action Committee.

Black History Month Lecture:
The STUC was delighted to have Wilf Sullivan deliver the annual Black History Month Lecture 2025 on 17th October. Wilf spoke about the history of organising black workers across the UK and what challenges still lie ahead.

St Andrews Day March and Rally 2025

The 2025 St Andrew’s Day March and Rally will take place on Saturday 29th November 2025. The theme of this year’s march and rally is Stand Up, Speak Out: Unite Against Racism!, which shows that despite institutional and everyday challenges, there is enduring strength in solidarity among the anti-racist and anti-fascist movement in Scotland. 

Join us on Saturday, 29 November 2025 at 10:30am. Muster at 10:30am at Barrowlands Park (G1 5BG) where the march will begin and proceed to Adelaide Place (209 Bath St, Glasgow G2 4HZ) for an indoor rally at 12pm. Everyone is welcome to join, and you are encouraged to bring your placards and union flags.

Details of guest speakers at the rally will be confirmed in due course.

St Andrew’s Day March and Rally 2024

The 2024 annual St Andrews Day March and Rally was held in Glasgow on Saturday 30th November 2024, where trade unionists united again against racism and fascism.
