The Scottish Trade Union Congress is fully compliant with the Data Protection Act 2018, the UK General Data Protection Regulations and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

We are committed to protecting the privacy of individuals on STUC organised courses and events and will treat all information you provide with care.

The personal information we usually collect is as follows:

Name

Trade Union

Role

Email

Telephone Number

In some cases, we also collect addresses for the purposes of issuing paperwork and credentials to attend events.

You directly provide the information we collect when you or a representative of your trade union completes the registration form.

We collect this data to administer our events and capture the information required to report to the General Council, who are the governing body of the STUC. We will hold this data for a maximum of three years, or until it becomes inaccurate, or you request for us to stop processing your data – whichever is earlier.

Personal addresses are not kept on file for longer than is needed and in most instances this data is deleted at the end of the event.

In some instances, we will ask your permission to share your personal information with your trade union when you register. If you do not give consent to provide your personal information, we may still provide anonymised data to our affiliated organisations.

If you register for an event online, basic personal information may be shared between Microsoft Forms, Eventbrite and Zoom as part of our event administration. Microsoft, Eventbrite and Zoom are GDPR compliant and their privacy notices are communicated to you when you join or use their platforms.

We may seek your permission to contact you via email about STUC events and activities when you complete your event registration form. You can opt-out of receiving these updates at any time by clicking the unsubscribe button in the email, or by contacting us directly using the details at the bottom of this notice. If you opt-in to receive these updates, your data will be added to our distribution list on Mail Chimp, which is GDPR compliant. We will securely keep your data on our distribution lists until you request for it to be removed or it becomes inaccurate.

You have the right to request copies of the personal data we hold on you.

You have the right to correct any inaccurate information we hold on you, and the right to request your data is erased completely.

You have the right to request that we restrict, or completely stop, the processing of your personal data.

You also have the right to request that we provide the data we hold on you in a transferrable format, such as PDF.

To make any of the above requests, please contact us using the details below. We have one month to respond to you.
