Volunteer Scotland disavows Underbelly bogus 'volunteer' posts

Following a request from the STUC, Volunteer Scotland has removed from its website an advertisement for over 300 unpaid roles, which include supervisory and managerial posts, to staff the official Edinburgh Hogmanay 18 event.

Ahead of budget Day rally at Scottish Parliament, STUC calls on all political parties to deliver a budget that best serves the interests of the people of Scotland

The STUC has today (13 December 17) written to the leaders of all political parties in Scotland urging them to bring forward meaningful taxation and spending proposals to the budget debate, and deliver the additional revenue needed to fund the “first-class” public services that we all need and deserve.

STUC 2017 St Andrew’s Day Anti-Racism March and Rally

The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) Annual St Andrew’s Day March and Rally takes place on Saturday 25th November. The theme of this year’s event is “No Racism: Educate, Agitate, Organise”. Trade unionists, community groups, religious groups, and campaigners will take to the streets of Glasgow to denounce racism and promote equality, fairness, and justice for all citizens of Scotland.

STUC on the Budget

Responding to the Chancellor’s budget statement Grahame Smith STUC General Secretary said: “It is clear that the UK Government’s economic strategy lies in ruins. Austerity is a failed policy that is heaping undue misery on people across the UK. It is economic illiteracy in the extreme and yet the Chancellor has rejected another opportunity to change course.
