About us

The STUC is Scotland’s Trade Union Centre. We represent over 550,000 workers through our 40 affiliated trade unions and 20 trade union councils. Our purpose is to co-ordinate, develop and articulate the views and policies of the Trade Union Movement in Scotland.

We speak for trade union members in and out of work, in the community and in the workplace, in all occupational sectors and across Scotland. We are the largest civil society body in Scotland.

We aim to be a strong, influential, and globally aware trade union centre that champions equalities, and delivers a fundamental shift in wealth, wellbeing, and power towards workers, our families, and communities in Scotland and beyond.

Our representative structures ensure that we can speak with authority for the interests of women workers, disabled workers, black workers, young workers, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workers, and other groups of trade unionists that otherwise suffer discrimination in the workplace and in society.

Everything we do is directed by our democracy. You can find out more about our structure and our policy & campaigning priorities in the sections below.
