Mike Arnott is STUC President 23/24
Mike was first elected as a shop steward in 1982 when he worked in the Dundee District Council Art Galleries & Museum Department. He went on to be the Secretary, and then President, of the GMB Apex Local Authorities branch from 1990 to his retirement in 2022.
He has been the Secretary of Dundee Trades Union Council since 1994. Mike is a lifelong activist who has campaigned against apartheid, the G8 and nuclear weapons in Scotland, including taking part in the Long Walk for Peace from Faslane to Holyrood.
He has a passion for labour history and is the Scottish Secretary of the International Brigade Memorial Trust.
