Fly the rainbow flag in solidarity with LGBT people across the Commonwealth

The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) has organised a campaign encouraging Trade Unions, the Scottish Government and Councils across Scotland to fly the rainbow flag in solidarity with LGBT people across the Commonwealth.

To celebrate Nelson Mandela International Day the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) and Action for Southern Africa Scotland (ACTSA) are asking people to donate children’s books to be sent to school libraries in Nelson Mandela’s home Province of Eastern Cape, with which Scotland has a particular link.

Grahame Smith, STUC General Secretary said: "There can be no justification for the kidnap and murder of the three Israeli teenagers Eyal Yifrach, Gilad Shaar and Naftali Frankel including the fact that the killings took place in the illegally occupied West Bank, STUC has today conveyed our sympathy to the Scottish Council of Jewish Communities (SCoJeC) which is holding a memorial service this evening.
