STUC welcomes First Minister’s Announcement on a Scottish Investment Bank

Commenting on the First Minister’s speech to STUC Congress 2009, Grahame Smith, STUC General Secretary said: “The STUC welcomes the First Minister’s announcement today of the first steps towards the establishment of a Scottish Investment Bank; a long-standing policy objective for the STUC. We now look forward to discussing the detailed implementation plans with colleagues in the Government and enterprise agencies.

CWU receive 2009 STUC Health and Safety Award

The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) has announced that Graeme Russell, Regional Safety Secretary for the Communication Workers Union (CWU), is this years recipient of the STUC Health and Safety Award for his work in promoting and developing positive partnership working in protecting the health, safety and welfare of CWU members in the Edinburgh and Borders Branch.

Strathclyde Fire fighter Wins STUC One Workplace Equality Award 2009

Rt. Hon. Harriet Harman MP, Minister for Women and Equality, will present this year’s One Workplace Equality Award 2009 to recognise the role of Scottish trade union members in promoting equality in the workplace (10:55 hrs Monday 20th April) at the STUC Annual Congress in Perth.

STUC to launch ‘Agenda for Rebuilding Collective Prosperity’ at Congress 2009

Tomorrow (Monday 20th April), Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) General Secretary Grahame Smith will launch the STUC’s Agenda for Rebuilding Collective Prosperity. STUC will be writing to a range of Scotland’s civic leaders, community and campaigning organisations asking them to support the initiative, comment on the policy papers which support the statement and engage in wider policy discussion over coming months.
