November 24th 2011

Rejecting Coalition Ministers criticisms of the pensions justice action on 30 November Scottish Trades Union Congress General Secretary, Grahame Smith, said

'It is pathetic for Francis Maude and Danny Alexander to criticise unions for the cost of November 30 to the UK economy.

'Any costs associated with next week's strike are insignificant when compared to the economic impact of withdrawing billions of pounds from the economy through spending cuts and the grab on public sector pensions.

'After snow, the Royal Wedding and the Eurozone, it seems the strike is next in line to be used as an excuse for the abject performance of the economy under the Coalition's watch'.
