The Annual Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) Disabled Workers Conference will take place this weekend when disabled trade union members will meet to discuss issues affecting disabled workers both in the workplace and wider Scottish society.
Alan McKay from the EIS who will chair the Conference said:
“This year’s conference takes place following some of the most swingeing cuts ever announced by a Government and no area will be left untouched. The cuts to benefit payments and proposed changes to the welfare system will have a profound and damaging effect on disabled people and the cuts to services will impact severely too. We will be using this conference, amongst other things to discuss how we, along with our partner organisations in the wider disabled community, can work together to oppose the draconian cuts and protect the human rights of our members.
