CONFERENCE OF TRADE UNIONS AND
TRADES UNION COUNCILS IN THE HIGHLANDS AND ISLANDS
10.00 am - 4.00pm SATURDAY, 16 JUNE 2007
TOWN HOUSE, INVERNESS
This year’s STUC Highlands and Islands Conference will be held on Saturday 16 June 2007 in the Town House, Inverness. The theme of this year’s Conference will be “Sustainable Development in the Highlands and Islands”.
The keynote speakers will be:
· Stewart Stevenson MSP Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change
· Willie Roe, Chair, Highlands & Islands Enterprise
· Andrew Thin, Chair, Scottish National Heritage
· John Deighan, Thurso and Wick Trades Union Council
Morning and afternoon sessions will be held on the following subjects:
· Organising Migrant Workers
· Discrimination in the Workplace
· Beyond Dounreay
· Sign Here (trade union sign language initiative)
In the afternoon there will be a Question and Answer Session with MSPs:
