On the opening day of the STUC Annual Congress in Glasgow STUC General Secretary Grahame Smith criticised all political parties for lack of action on the issue of corporate killing.
Grahame Smith said “Today the political parties are campaigning on law and order issues. Working has been identified as the most hazardous activity undertaken by most people. The levels of workplace injury and death continue to be unacceptable.
The entire Scottish Conservative group in particular, in the previous parliament, failed to support Karen Gillon’s proposals to amend the law on corporate homicide. Surely this was an opportunity for them to be truly tough on crime and ensuring justice for the victims of corporate killing.
“All of Scotland’s political parties must address the issue of corporate killing to ensure the guilty are brought to justice and Scots workers are given the protection from death and injury they deserve.”
