STUC and Employee Ownership Scotland host joint seminar on Co-operative Development The STUC and Employee Ownership Scotland will host a joint seminar on Tuesday 11 May which has been arranged to coincide with the Scottish Executive's consultation exercise on a new Co-operative Development Agency for Scotland. Speakers include Hugh Donnelly, EOS, Richard Leonard, GMB and John Logue, Director of the Ohio Employee Ownership Centre (OEOC) and Professor at Kent State University.
Speaking on the eve of the seminar, Bill Speirs, STUC General Secretary said;
"I am delighted to welcome John Logue, the USA's foremost authority on employee ownership to the STUC. The trade union and co-operative movements share similar values of democracy, equality and solidarity and there is no doubt that co-operative enterprises can play a prominent role in the Scottish economy of the future".
"The STUC looks forward to working with the Scottish Executive and other partners to ensure that the new agency helps create and develop dynamic and sustainable co-operatives in a number of sectors of the Scottish economy".
The seminar will be attended by representatives from the trade unions, co- operative movement and a range of public sector organisations.
