Scottish budget requires further amendment to meet threat to jobs and services

February 2nd 2017

Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) General Secretary Grahame Smith said:

'We acknowledge that there has been some movement towards redistribution and funding for local services, but not enough.

'If passed in its current form the budget will still bring cuts to public services and no relief for public service workers from the pay cap.

'The continuation and expansion of the Small Business Bonus Scheme will do little to promote growth at a time when resources for public investment are scant.

'The STUC will press for further amendments to this budget in the weeks ahead.'
