Trade unions in Scotland won over £25,000,000 in compensation for members who were treated unjustly or injured at work. If your workplace is trade union organised you are likely to be paid more, get more holidays, work less hours, be able to access more training, and be more likely to get career progression or promotion opportunities.
There are also a whole host of legal rights and protections available to you, but you need to know what your rights are at work to be able to exercise them and many employers don't meet minimum legal standards, when it comes to your legal rights at work. Trade unions can help you to secure your rights and get a better deal from your employer.

Information on the Unions Work Campaign**
Unions Work is a major campaigning initiative launched by trade unions in Scotland on the 19th April 2004 at the STUC Congress. It is about bringing the whole trade union movement in Scotland together, at every level, in a concerted effort to tell people about the real benefits of trade union membership.
Unions Work is about:
• Supporting membership growth & building organising • capacity • Increasing inter-union co-operation on organising and • recruitment • Promoting a positive media agenda based on our successes • Modernising our image & widening our representative's • diversity • Strengthening and supporting our existing activist base • Focussing on organising new sectors & working with new • partners • Targeting engaging with & involving young people
We want to work with trade union branches and trades union councils across Scotland to spread the Unions Work Message. Over the coming months we are organising a Unions Work Road Show, which will take the campaign out to Towns and Cities across Scotland.
