NEWS RELEASE

Tuesday, 18 October 2005 For immediate release

Scottish TUC Reaction to Pensions Deal

In reaction to the public sector pensions deal agreed by the TUC and the Government Grahame Smith, Scottish TUC Deputy General Secretary, said:

"With all negotiations of this magnitude much of the detail has still to be finalised.

"However, it is important to stress that this is a welcome development and it's clear the TUC and unions at national level have been successful in safeguarding the interests of public sector workers and their pensions."
