STUC Diageo Statement

'The Scottish Trades Union Congress fully supports today’s lobby of the Scottish Parliament by workers from Diageo’s Scottish sites. The lobby presents a major opportunity for politicians from all parties to show their opposition, before this afternoon’s ministerial statement and the subsequent member’s debate, to the proposed restructuring of Diageo in Scotland which would result in 900 job losses.

The Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC) will join Scottish Government coalition in pressing the Chancellor of the Exchequer to bring forward capital spending from 2011-2012 to 2010-2011, but the Cabinet Secretary for Finance must support his case by abandoning the Council Tax freeze.
