“The STUC was saddened to learn of the untimely death of Bashir Ahmad MSP, and we send our deepest condolences to Mr Ahmad’s family. The election of Mr Ahmad to the Scottish Parliament in 2007, as the first Black MSP, marked an important milestone, and he will be a significant loss to our Parliament”.

A delegation of senior trade unionists from the Scottish Trades Union Congress (STUC), will this week depart for Palestine and Israel.
The delegation will meet with trade unionists in Israel and the Occupied Territories of Palestine, to investigate the merits of supporting a boycott, disinvestment and sanctions against the state of Israel until it complies with international law and agreed human rights principles.
