March 2002
15th : STUC conference on Glasgow housing stock transfer
The STUC will be holding a Conference on the Glasgow City Council housing stock transfer on Sunday 17 March, 2002, at 11.30 am in the Scottish Trades Union Centre, 333 Woodlands Road, Glasgow.
18th : STUC calls on chancellor to stand by his past commitments
This is very, very welcome news, and completely demolishes the line from the Glasgow Housing Association that there is no ?plan B? to improve Glasgow?s housing when the tenants vote no in the current ballot
17th : Housing stock transfer ? ?if the Tories had tried it, everyone knows labour would have fought it?
Frankly, if Michael Forsyth and the last Tory Government had come up with this con, the Labour Party ? from top to bottom ? would be fighting it tooth and nail, and everyone knows it even if they won?t admit it?.
12th : Drive to scrap council housing has taken a bizarre turn and is now an affront to democracy
The pressure from Glasgow City Council, the GHA and the Scottish Executive has now taken an unparalleled move towards what some would describe as political blackmail: there is clearly an element of panic involved.
14th : Support for privatisation ebbing away
We urge tenants, who have been bombarded by propaganda and implied threats for weeks, not to be frightened and not to be fooled. Vote NO to selling off Council houses.
