STUC Broadly Welcome's Chancellor's Pre-budget Statement
Commenting on the Chancellor's Pre-budget Statement, STUC General Secretary, Bill Speirs said,
"We broadly welcome the Chancellor's approach. He, quite correctly, has confirmed his commitment to fulfil his plans for investment in vital public services and much needed infrastructural developments. And, quite correctly, at a time when the economy domestically and internationally is slowing down, he has signalled his intention to borrow to fund his plans. Those who suggest that interest rates need to rise in this context are misguided to say the least".
