Scottish Companies must rebalance trade with China and India
Speaking as more disappointing manufacturing export figures were released, Stephen Boyd, STUC Assistant Secretary said:
"Scottish companies and economic development agencies must actively rebalance trade with rapidly growing economies such as China and India.
"The much maligned German economy, the world's top exporter, increased exports to China by 93% between 2000-03. The equivalent figure for the UK was 17%.
We must maximise the opportunities provided by globalisation rather than morbidly focusing on the threats".
