STUC Welcomes International Asbestos Conference in Clydebank
The Scottish TUC has welcomed the Mesothelioma Day International Asbestos Conference being held today (Monday 27 February) at Clydebank Town Hall. Speakers from as far afield as South Africa, Canada and the International Labour Organisation will highlight the plight of workers and their families throughout the world who suffer the consequences of asbestos work related diseases.
Ian Tasker, STUC Assistant Secretary said, "The Clydebank Asbestos Group must be congratulated on organising such a high level international conference. The conference will discuss the effect of asbestos which manifests as occupational illnesses which have blighted many Scottish workers and their families in addition to the many thousands of other cases throughout the world and the support they require."
