EU Withdrawal Bill

June 12th 2018

Speaking ahead of the debate on amendments to the EU Withdrawal Bill, STUC General Secretary Grahame Smith said:

“If, as we suspect, Theresa May uses her slim Westminster majority to effectively vote through Clause 15 of the Bill, she will be doing so without the consent of the Scottish Parliament. This is an extremely grave and unprecedented matter.

“Arrangements that allow the UK Government to legislate on areas of devolved competence, without the agreement of the Parliament elected by the Scottish people to serve their interests, are simply not acceptable.”
