PENSIONERS CHALLENGE PARTIES TO DELIVER
Scotland's pensioners will challenge representatives from the six main political parties to deliver for older people in Scotland at an Election Conference organised by the Scottish Pensioners Forum in Glasgow at lunchtime today,
The following politicians will state what their manifesto offers the older people of Scotland and face questions from an audience of Scottish pensioners on a range of issues from health to travel; from pensions to war.
Bill Aitken (Con) Robert Brown(SLD) Robin Harper (Green) Pauline McNeill (Lab) Tommy Sheridan(SSP) Sandra White (SNP)
Phyllis Herriot, Chairperson of the Scottish Pensioners' Forum said
"The Scottish Executive have delivered some benefits for pensioners with free personal & nursing care and free concessionary travel. Pensioners are now a large section of the voting public. Politicians need to listen to our demands if they are to deserve our vote. Our Forum is campaigning to extend and improve these benefits and will monitor commitment and progress in the coming months, whoever is in power."
Anne Middleton (ex Asst Scottish Secretary UNISON and STUC General Council) will chair the conference which is being held in the STUC Offices between 12 and 2pm today. ENDS
