OFFSHORE WORKFORCE INVOLVEMENT DAY

8TH MAY 2008, MURRAYFIELD STADIUM, EDINBURGH

The Offshore Industry Advisory Committee (OIAC) has been working for some time to improve the effectiveness of workforce involvement in the offshore industry. The TUC is represented on OIAC by Ian Tasker, STUC Assistant Secretary and is fully supportive of the Workforce Involvement sub-group of the OIAC.

Clearly the most successful examples of worker involvement can be found in trade uniojsed workplaces with properly constituted and elected safety representatives and consultation procedures. Unfortunately, these regulations do not extend to offshore and the HSE through OIAC has arranged a one day seminar to examine and discuss the extent of workers involvement in the offshore environment.

It should be noted that this conference is strictly limited to those employed offshore and we would encourage trade union members and safety representatives.

The HSE have written to employers encouraging them to put in place appropriate arrangements to ensure workers are released to attend this event. Further details on the event can be found here (insert link)

Employees can register by contacting Louisa Cooper on 020 7717 6806 or email louisa.cooper@hse.gsi.gov.uk by no later than Friday, 4th April 2008.
