Union 21/STUC Conference on Migrant Workers

Following on from a successful joint conference last year on European social models, Unions 21 has approached the STUC to once again start their annual week of trade union events across the UK in Scotland. They have identified the issue of migrant workers as one of shared interest. The Union 21/STUC Conference on Migrant Workers will take place on 5 March in the Scottish Parliament . The draft programme for the event is as follows:

10:00 Registration

10:20 Introduction – Unions 21

10:30 Jack McConnell MSP, First Minster – Working in Scotland (invited)

11:00 Workplace perspective and Q&A – Grahame Smith, STUC

11:30 Community perspective Q&A – Speaker to be confirmed

12:00 Panel discussion – Is Scotland the place? Harry Donaldson, GMB (other speakers to be confirmed)

13:00 Lunch and informal discussion
