  • STUC 2007 Manifesto

Part of the 2006/2007 Work Plan is to develop and implement a strategy to highlight STUC priorities for the forthcoming 2007 Scottish Elections including the development of a “policy document highlighting STUC priorities for the 2007 Scottish Elections”.

It was agreed that policy objectives are formulated around the following seven key themes based on recent STUC priorities.

• Growing the Scottish Economy

• Protecting Scotland’s Workforce

• Delivering World Class Public Services

• Building a Fairer Scotland

• Securing Energy Supply

• Meeting the Global Challenge

• Investing in Scotland’s Future

It was agreed that detailed policy demands behind the broad themes are considered by the Economy and Employment Committee in October and brought back to the November General Council meeting to be finalised. The document will form the basis of all discussions with political parties and other organisations in the run up to the 2007 Scottish Elections. A media event, probably as part of the Scottish Parliament Trade Union Week, will be organised to maximise publicity for the document involving members of the General Council.
