  • STUC joins FACK Westminster lobby of MPs

The STUC travelled to Westminster on the 10th October to meet Families Against Corporate Killing (FACK)members ahead of the second reading of the Corporate Manslaughter and Homicide Bill.

Ian Tasker, STUC Health and Safety Officer chaired a lobby by the group of Westminster MPs at which the families made their views known regarding the inadequacies of the lproposed legislation that will not hold individuals to account for deaths caused by their negligence.

While most of the members of FACK are families from England and Wales the STUC wants to assist FACK organise and recruit members in Scotland. It is only fair the Westminster Ministers talks to those who are most affected by corporate killing and this should involve discussions with those who have to battle agianst the systen to try and achieve juistice.

Everyone should remember this corporation do not just kill workers, in London the STUC met Dawn and Paul Adams whose son Samuel was 6 years old when he was killed at the newly opened Trafford Centre in October 1998. The corporation was later fined £100000 on health and safety charges, a sum that does not reflect the loss of any life, let alone a six year old boy.

If you have been affected by a work related death or have lost a member of your family as a result of corporate failure like Paul and Dawn Adams Fack would like to hear from you.
